Update on Negotiations with NNOC/NNU

Update on Negotiations with NNOC/NNU

I want to update you on our contract negotiations today with the leaders of the NNOC/NNU to try to avert the nursing strike they have called for this Friday. The bargaining teams from both UCMC and the union met throughout the day and into the evening with a federal mediator, reviewing the many open issues that must be resolved to reach a new contract.

Our conversations focused on the proposals the union delivered late Saturday night. UCMC made a comprehensive counter-proposal in an attempt to reduce the number of issues in dispute and make progress towards a resolution. Although there were no breakthroughs reached in today’s negotiations, both sides agreed to meet again Tuesday with the federal mediator.

If you haven’t already done so, I’d urge you to attend an upcoming town hall to learn about our strike preparations; they are scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Tuesday in P-117; noon Wednesday in P-117; and noon Thursday in L-168. Thank you for your continued professionalism and focus on our patients during this difficult period.
